About El Mediterraneo

Introducing El Mediterraneo Restaurant feels a bit like letting someone in on a great secret tucked away in Lalitpur, because this is the kind of place you stumble into once and then keep recommending to friends. Known locally as El Mediterraneo, the restaurant brings a relaxed Spanish restaurant vibe that’s easy to enjoy whether you’re planning a slow meal or a quick bite. Located at M8H6+97Q, Lalitpur 44700, Nepal, it’s surprisingly approachable, yet it carries that warm Mediterranean charm that makes you want to sit back and stay awhile. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere leans casual and welcoming rather than overly formal, which makes it perfect for everyday dining as well as laid-back catch-ups. El Mediterraneo works well for dine-in guests who want to enjoy the full experience, while takeaway is a handy option if you’re short on time but still craving something satisfying. The menu reflects a thoughtful mix of offerings, with small plates that are easy to share and ideal for exploring different flavors without feeling overwhelmed. Drinks are clearly part of the experience here too, since you can choose from alcohol, beer, cocktails, wine, and spirits, depending on your mood, and there’s also coffee if you’re easing into the day or wrapping up a meal. What stands out is how naturally everything fits together, because the food, drinks, and service options feel designed for real people with real schedules. El Mediterraneo doesn’t try to be flashy or overcomplicated, and that’s exactly why it works so well. It’s the kind of Spanish-inspired spot where you can relax, enjoy good company, and let the flavors do the talking, all while feeling comfortable enough to come back again and again.

The food here was really good. I'm not Spanish but I have spent time in Spain and I am familiar with tapas. We were not super hungry because we had a huge lunch, so sharing a few tapas was a great way to get a small dinner. The eggplant and feta was cooked perfectly and the saltiness of the feta was a nice compliment. The croquetas de jamon had a nice flavor. The owner also told us we could order a cheese plate off-menu with many of his European cheeses. They were all nice. He also brought us some dessert bites to try on the house, which was super nice of him. All three desserts we tried were fantastic. I would definitely come back here. The only down side is the lighting is a bit too dim.

My go to place for Spanish food. The food here is amazing and the chef keeps trying new and creative dishes. Many ingredients are directly sources from Spanish which gives the authentic taste. The staff are very friendly and attentive towards the guest. They have a parking is behind the building which makes it easier.

We had an amazing dinner experience here and all due thanks to Joshiji for his warm hearted hospitality. He served us multiple scrumptious complimentary dishes and took his time out to educate us on the spanish cooking. Tortilla de patatas and natillas were our highlights. Mango cheesecake which is only seasonally available, is the best cheesecake i have had in town. Bear no hesitation for the authenticity of this place. Go and give your taste buds a new interesting experience.

A hidden gem in Kathmandu! I didn't realize you could get great Spanish food in Nepal, but you can here. The owner lived in Barcelona for a stretch of time, so he speaks Spanish and his passion for Spanish culture, life, and food comes through. Food is great despite lacking the vital ingredients that are commonplace in Spain. I would recommend stuff that isn't seafood, as Nepal is a landlocked country so most of that is frozen. Paella is pretty good here.

Amazing experience! Definitely one of the most underrated restaurants in Kathmandu. The decor is simple and charming, perfect for laid back dining. We had Croquetas de Pollo and Gambas Al Ajillo as starters, Paella for main course, and Mousse de Lima for dessert. The drink of choice was obviously Sangria. The flavors were rich and comforting. The dessert was light and left a sweet/ tangy aftertaste. My husband is not at all a dessert person but he’s coming back for the mousse. The team was welcoming and generous. We got complimentary chorizo palette and brownie with ice cream, both a definite order for next time we visit. It’s a gem with warm, welcoming vibe and balue for money.

My taste-buds rejoiced every moment spent here! Service: The morning server was welcoming and attentive towards the guests. I accidentally left my accessories which were kept safe by the staffs and I am very thankful! Food: I was provided with various complimentary samples while my order was being prepared! Every dish was perfection. I can’t recommend this place enough and can’t wait to go back again.
